Become a trooper with the Idaho State Police

January 13, 2023

The Idaho State Police (ISP) is accepting applications from exceptional candidates to join a team of dedicated professionals serving the people of Idaho. As a statewide law enforcement agency, commissioned troopers specialize in highway safety and traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, commercial vehicle safety, and alcohol beverage control.

"ISP is an excellent career choice for those interested in joining law enforcement to serve others. We are looking for both entry-level and lateral candidates," said ISP Captain Sam Ketchum, who oversees the Training division. "Our agency is unique in the freedoms and benefits our troopers experience with our training, equipment, ability to join specialty positions, and the overall variety of opportunities offered."

Applications for entry-level and lateral trooper positions are open and accepted through February 26. Anyone interested can find additional information here.

"ISP is an exciting place to serve and build a career. Our benefits make a difference; from continuing education, excellent health and retirement benefits, pay increases, and options to serve where you want to live, our troopers have opportunities not often found elsewhere," Ketchum said.

Physical and oral board testing will begin for selected applicants after February 26, with the next Advanced Training Class beginning in July.
