Jocy Litterell to pursue lifelong dream in Paris and Africa |
||
January 25, 2023
With good midwifery care, the loss of her mother most likely could have been prevented, and for as long a Jessie remembers, Jocy has wanted to become a doula, a woman employed to provide guidance and support to the mother of a newborn baby, or a midwife, a health professional who cares for mothers and newborns around childbirth. Her dream is to become a skilled doula/midwife and go back to Haiti and work to help prevent mothers like hers from dying in childbirth. This spring, she will embark on the first steps toward fulfilling that admirable dream. "Hey everyone, I've got some exciting news!" Jocelene "Jocy" Litterell posted to Facebook. "I have been accepted into a Ywam Birth Attendant School in Paris for six months. I have been hoping to go to this school for the last couple of years and just recently there has been a door open for me. I am so excited for this next journey. After the lecture phase of my schooling, I will have the opportunity to serve women in Africa as a doula for three months. This is all happening so quickly and thankfully I have been saving for my future, which means I'm fairly close to having the funds I need to attend. I actually leave in two months and plan to work full time and overtime until that day arrives. If you feel so led to donate to this cause, it would be a huge blessing." Donations can be made online via PayPal to joceleneconsena@gmail.com or by mail to 4348 Eileen Rd, Moyie Springs ID 83845. "I'm super proud of her for pursuing her dream," Jessie said. |
