Mobley on the run after escaping transport

July 9, 2023

UPDATE: July 10: A tip from an alert resident in Plains, Montana, led to the capture of Chadwick Shane Mobley, taken in to custody on River Road West at about 6:08 p.m. today.

At about 9:58 a.m. today, murder suspect Chadwick Shane Mobley escaped during a transport in Plains, Montana. Plains is a little over an hour east of Clark Fork off Highway 200. Mobley is a white male, 42 years of age, six feet tall, 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a light colored t-shirt, camo pants, ball cap, boots, and a black coat. He was able to remove his handcuffs as well as the ankle shackles and then run during a stop at the Town Pump.

At this time there is an ongoing search for Mobley, but the search efforts have been unsuccessful so far.

The Sanders County Sheriff's Office urges those in the area to lock homes, garages and vehicles. If you see anything suspicious you are asked to call 911.

Mobley, the subject of a nationwide manhunt for the murder of a 20-year-old Michigan woman in 2011, was captured in Libby June 28. The transport was being conducted by a private transport company.
