August 2, 2023

The Boundary County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in conjunction with the Idaho State Police and Boundary County Sheriff’s Office announced today that Shannon P. Dabbs, 57, has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree arson relating to the September 22, 2020, death of Susan Dabbs, shot multiple times in the head and chest, and for then setting fire to the cabin on Perkins Lake Road, her body inside.

Probable cause was found and an arrest warrant was issued on July 7, 2023. The defendant made his first appearance in Boundary County August 1, and he is currently in custody in lieu of $1-million bond, or $300,000 if he agrees to pay for and wear an  ankle monitor, not possess firearms or ammunition and not leave the state. A preliminary hearing on the charges is currently scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 10, in front of Judge Justin Julian.

The charges in this case have been the result of almost three years of investigation by the Idaho State Police and Boundary County Sheriff’s Office, with consultation of the Idaho State Fire Marshal and the Spokane Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

The Boundary County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office thanks these agencies for their work in bringing this case to charging.
