Betty Jean Robbins

July 24, 2022

Betty Jean Robbins, 92, died peacefully on June 3, 2022, in the presence of her two daughters, Cynthia Copeland and Vicki Van Der Hoek, in The Oaks Of Stockbridge Assisted Living, Stockbridge, Georgia. Betty was cremated and a private service will be held in her husband Don's (who died March 26, 2014) hometown, Bonners Ferry, early October 2022 by her immediate family. The family will be spreading both of their ashes into the Kootenai River.

She is survived by her son Robert Robbins, granddaughter Casey Copeland, brother-in-law Duane, nephew Phillip French, niece Janyce Keeling, and former daughter-in-law Mary Lou Gonzales, who she considered like one of her daughters for her loving care and support.

Betty grew up in Pico Rivera, California, and graduated from Whittier High School in l948. She met her husband, Donald Robbins, a Marine from San Diego, the same year and where married on June 30, l948, in Betty's parents backyard.

Betty was a devoted wife and mother to Don and their three children. She was a homemaker of many talents from cooking, sewing, home decor and gardening and maintained the family finances. Her pastime was crossword puzzles and reading. She supported her children's interest in sports, Brownies, Girl Scouts, theater, band, dance and choir.

In the l980s, she and Don became real estate agents for Century 21 Whittier, and eventually purchased their own rental properties. Don remodeled them himself and Betty helped by cleaning and preparing meals. She greatly enjoyed her "real estate" family and attended all their functions.

Betty was loved and admired by those that knew her. Her neighbor Rose once expressed that "Betty was like a Mother to me."

In her final year, Betty was moved from her Pico Rivera home, to the assisted living in Georgia to be closer to her two daughters. She was loved and adored by the staff and caretakers and was known as "one of our favorite patients." The day she passed away several closer caretakers wept by her bedside. She will be missed.
