Jay H. Thomas

Jay H. Thomas, 47, passed away May 21, 2023, at Bonner General Hospital, Sandpoint, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Private family services will be held.

He was born June 3, 1975, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Earl and Carol (Babington) Thomas. When Jay was two, the family sold their property in Portage, Wisconsin, and moved to Naples to start a new adventure, buying the Naples Cafe and operating it for several years.

Jay attended school in Naples and Bonners Ferry. He later met and married Taunee Munson and they had three children; Samantha Jaye, 1995, and Ashley Renee and Nathan Bradley, 2000. Jay and Taunee later divorced and he never remarried.

He worked at various jobs until MS put a stop to his ability to work when he was 21 years old. The disease progressed until Jay was no longer able to care for himself and he was admitted to various nursing homes, finally moving to Valley Vista Care in Sandpoint, where he received excellent care from a wonderful staff.

Jay had a lifelong interest in rocks and crystals and in collecting foreign guns.

He was preceded in death by his father and daughter, Ashley. He is survived by his mother, Carol Thomas, Sandpoint, sister Laura Kitchen, Bonners Ferry, brother John Thomas, Naples, daughter Samantha Thomas and son Nathan Thomas, both of Naples, and sister Amanda Isaac, Sandpoint.
