Dr. Ulappa earns Golden Apple Award at BSU

April 27, 2022
Professor Dr. Amy Ulappa

The Associated Students of Boise State University have announced the winners of this year’s Golden Apple Awards, and among them is Dr. Amy Ulappa, a professor of biology in the College of Arts and Sciences and a 2000 graduate of Bonners Ferry High School. Amy is the daughter of Tom Ulappa and Janis Kerby, both of Bonners Ferry.

The Golden Apple Awards are a student-led award program that recognizes faculty for excellent teaching and efforts to better include students in their classrooms. Over 170 nominations were received, coming from all nine colleges and schools across the university, including the graduate and the honors colleges.

The 12 student members of the award committee selected nine recipients they felt best exemplified the spirit of the award.

“Dr. Ulappa is by far the best professor that I have had at Boise State," one of her students said. "She was such a hype woman when it came to writing our scientific resumes. She made us feel better about what we have accomplished so far and helped us realize how big certain pieces of our life have been to our futures. She acknowledged all of the hard work we were doing and respected us for that and we all respected her. By being so approachable and engaging, she created such a loop of respect for everyone involved. All around, she had been such a wholesome and caring professor.”
