Mendenhall honored with BCH Diamond Award

Boundary Community Hospital is proud to award Kristie Mendenhall the bi-annual Diamond Award, celebrating the exceptional compassion and care she provides to patients and their families’ daily. Kristie has worked at BCH for over 30 years; beyond her unwavering dedication to BCH, her outstanding patient care truly sets her apart. She does whatever it takes to ensure her patients receive the best possible care, often going above and beyond the call of duty.

For instance, she goes out of her way to help patients who have a difficult time getting out of their cars by meeting them at their vehicle to retrieve blood samples from them in the parking lot; Kristie even braves extreme weather to make sure that patients who cannot leave their cars receive the care they need.

Additionally, Kristie spends time researching how to overcome obstacles patients may encounter when needing uncommon lab tests. She is the phlebotomist everyone asks for, especially those with difficult veins. Kristie knows many patients personally and remembers extra details about them while treating them like family. It's hard to imagine having a better representative of BCH than Kristie.

Kristie always goes above and beyond to ensure that patients are cared for in every way possible. She tracks down diagnosis codes to ensure patients' insurance covers an unusual lab test. Kristie always takes a genuine interest in patients' well-being and has even been seen fetching a cup of water for a patient and sitting with them while they cried. Every patient receives the same level of love and respect. Kristie is Boundary Community Hospital, and her dedication and commitment to patient care are unparalleled.

Kristie's colleagues hold her in high regard, and she is a role model for the hospital's values of compassion, care, and service. She embodies the hospital's mission to "Care for Our Community Every Day," and her efforts do not go unnoticed.
