Badger cross country season set to begin

August 1, 2022

Bonners Ferry High School cross country will begin fall practice at 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 8, at the south end of the bleachers of the football/track stadium with a mandatory parent/information meeting to be followed by a short practice. Coaches will be going over team rules and expectations for the season.

Athletes who have completed all paperwork, including team rules, have a physical on file and are properly dressed/prepared for practice will be able to practice immediately.

Athletes without physicals on file at the high school, completed team rules, school code of conduct, and insurance information will not be allowed to practice until completed. Physicals are required for freshmen, juniors and anyone who is new to extracurricular activities at BFHS.

Parents/athletes who cannot attend the parent/info meeting should make contact with coaches as soon as possible, being mindful the IHSAA no contact period is in effect from August 1 - 8.

Beginning Tuesday, August 9, all summer practices will begin at 7 a.m. to limit training during the heat of the day. All practices will begin and end at the high school student parking lot at the south end of the lot and will last approximately 2.5 hours. Full practice schedules for first two weeks will be available at first practice and available every two weeks thereafter. Ten practices are required to compete.

BFHS cross country is open to all high school age students of any experience level. Athletes are expected to wear running appropriate attire; running shoes, athletic shorts/leggings (no jeans or denim material) and shirt. Layers are encouraged for morning practices and weather. Athletes should bring their own water bottles, with a minimum of two highly recommended for summer practices.

The Badgers will host the YEA meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 20.

Meets will be posted on bfbadgers.com and on the team’s athletic.net page. Head Coach Tyler Warner can be contacted at tyler.warner@mail.bcsd101.com.
