Trey Bateman 'Heavy Hitter of the Week'

Every Monday, Idaho Sports managing editor Brandon Baney recaps the nine most scintillating hitting performances from the past week of competition. Why nine? Because there's nine batters in the lineup, he writes. There was a Badger in his report the last week of April.

"I should note that these are single-game performances only," Baney writes. "I don't have the math skills to pull off calculating weekly totals."

Ranked sixth for the week of April 24-29 was Bonners Ferry High School junior Trey Bateman, carrying on a seemingly inexhaustible Bateman family legacy of athletic prowess going back decades!

"Bonners Ferry faced old conference rival Kellogg in a non-conference clash on Friday, April 28th," Baney wrote. "In the first game of a doubleheader, the Badgers earned a walk-off, 11-10 win, thanks in part to Bateman. The junior went 3-for-5 at the plate, with a home run, double and single with five RBIs and a run scored. Bateman also drew an intentional walk, and came up with the game-winning hit with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning."
