Vandaljack Eika Willis, the daughter of Hannah Sucsy and Dr.
Hank Willis, both of Bonners Ferry, was second place Belle of
the Woods at the end of a two-day logging competition hosted
by the University of Idaho in Moscow yesterday, taking first
place in stock saw and finishing second on points in the
woman's division. Around 150 student lumberjacks from schools
in Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, Montana and British
Columbia.
In addition to stock saw, Eika competed in
five other events, and she finished second in the choker race,
third on the obstacle pole and fourth on the caber toss, with
20-30 women competing in each event.
Eika is a junior
at the U of I, majoring in ecology and minoring in forest
resources and fire ecology.
