Delia Coble Garrison, 69, passed away peacefully December 24th, 2023 in the care of the kind and compassionate staff of Sunset Home Assisted Living. Delia was the youngest daughter of Keith and Gladyce Coble, who were undoubtedly there to welcome her home. Her family would like to thank Sunset Home, Boundary County Hospital and Kootenai Cancer Center for their amazing care. No services will be held.
She is survived by her husband Dan, sisters Claudia and Raina, children Jacob and Kady, along with many children who lovingly called her Grandma: Samantha, Nathan, Rachelle, Amelia, Avalena, Aloura and Neil.
A woman of petite stature but immense personality, Delia’s life was a tapestry of adventure, artistry, and unwavering spirit. Her early years in Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, instilled in her a lifelong passion for exploration. Eventually, she returned to Bonners Ferry with Dan, her partner of 52 years.
Delia, a fervent sports fan, rooted tirelessly for Gonzaga and the 49ers. Her heart, however, found its truest joy in nature’s embrace. She never lost sight of the magic and wonder in the world, and she saw poetry and beauty in everything. On walks, drives and hikes she would often stop and bask in the beauty around her, listening to what nature was trying to tell her. She left her mark in these moments. Creating art from nature, her rock and branch displays a testament to her creativity. Anyone who has tubed the upper Moyie River has probably seen many of these.
A dedicated Parrothead, Delia found profound meaning in Jimmy Buffet’s lyrics, which she wove into the fabric of her life. To those she leaves behind, her message echoes with the wisdom she cherished:
Grow older, but not up.
Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been.
Breathe in, breathe out, move on.
