The Badger girls came home from the 2024 Idaho State Girls High School Wrestling Championship in Pocatello last weekend with 73.5 points and a third place finish behind Thunder Ridge, 130.5, and American Falls, 83,and well ahead of other North Idaho teams that traveled south to the Holt Arena. Coeur d’Alene posted an 11th place berth with 45 points, Sandpoint came in 19th with 32 points.
Two Badgers, senior Aubrey Wells, fighting at 165, and freshman Eva Willis, fighting at 185, brought home second place medals to lead the team’s accomplishment.
Aubrey fell to junior Riana Walter, Canyon Ridge High School, Twin Falls, on a fall at 4:00 in the championship bout, Eva went down to a fall at 0:22 to Thunder Ridge (Idaho Falls) High School’s Shauna Anderson, also a freshman.
At 132, Badger junior Sofia Brown came home in fifth place, taking out Lake City(Coeur d’Alene) High School senior Madi Cook with a fall at 4:08 in her final match; and Badger senior Savannah Rickter fell at 152 pounds to Emmett junior Gracin Dennis by a fall at 3:35 for ab sixth place finish.
The sole Badger boy to make it into the finals was freshman Taylor Dodd, fighting at 285, who fell to senior Neilsen Glascock, South Fremont with a fall at 0:29 to finish fourth.
