Auditions for men will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, September 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6784 Cody Street, Bonners Ferry. The men of the Boundless choir have performed in Carnegie Hall twice and in concerts locally and abroad since 2010. Boundless is a chamber choir of 16-20 singers who perform separately as a women’s ensemble, a men’s ensemble, and jointly as a mixed choir.
Auditions for new women singers will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 5, also at Trinity Lutheran Church. There are two choir options for women. Spiritsong is an all women’s choir of 35-40 singers which has performed locally and toured extensively since 2004. Boundless, as indicated above, is a select mixed ensemble of 16-20. Women chosen for Boundless also are expected to sing in Spiritsong.
The director of both choirs, Vicki Blake Thompson, has conducted choirs in Bonners Ferry since 1996. The concert this fall celebrates the 13 choir tours and yearly concerts which she has led during her years here. The tours have included trips to Austria, Ireland (twice), Costa Rica, Tanzania, Greece, Iceland, China and Cuba, as well as Newfoundland and Powell River in British Columbia, and twice to Carnegie Hall in New York City.
