It is with profound sadness that her family announces the passing of Lois Edna McAbee, 93, our beloved mother and grandmother, who departed at 3:28 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her daughter and son-in-law Anita and Neal Fessler’s home in Post Falls.
She was born August 7, 1931, in Ukiah, California, to Louis and Alta Bekkemellon. As an adult, Lois lived in Salt Lake City, Reno and San Diego before settling in Bonners Ferry.
She had four children; Louis, David, Steve and Susan from an early marriage. She met and married Tiff “Reb” Worrell, who passed away in 1965. They had four more children; William “BG,” Nancy, Annette and Anita.
In 1966, she met Darvie McAbee and they married the same year in Reno. They moved to Bonners Ferry in 1973 with eight children and opened up a Coach Stop Garage and a second hand store upon retirement.
Lois and Darvie enjoyed traveling from Darvie’s home in the Carolinas to the southwest coast and even to Alaska and beyond. She loved her garden, her family and reading books.
She is survived by her loving children; Louis, David, Susan, Nancy, Annette and Anita, siblings Helen, Alta and Alice, 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by husbands Tiff and Darvie and sons Steve and William BG.
Her kindness and love will always live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten, her spirit will always be bright.
