On September 6, 2024, Houck Farms proudly received Century Farm status during a special Houck family event held at the farm. Bonners Ferry Mayor Rick Alonzo presented the award to 45- year farmer and fourth generation grandson of Edward Houck, Tim Dillin. The award acknowledges the legacy of the Houck family and the contributions of the descendants of S.L. Houck for their longstanding dedication to the land agriculture, and commitment to investing in the future.

The Century Farm Award recognizes families that have continuously owned and actively farmed the same land for 100 years or more. The Idaho Century Farm and Ranch program was established as part of the state’s Centennial Celebration in 1990. Since its inception, over 450 farms and ranches across Idaho have been designated as Century Farms or Ranches.

This designation serves as a testament to the enduring agricultural heritage and the dedication of families in preserving their land and way of life for future generations.

The Houck family’s farming legacy began in 1924, when S.L. Houck and his family moved from Cheney, Washington, and started cultivating nearly 500 acres in Idaho’s Kootenai River Valley. The three brothers—Marvin, Edward and Raymond—worked side by side on the farm for many years. Following Edward’s death, Houck Farms Incorporated was established by Edward Duane Houck, Carol Ann “Houck” Dillin and her husband Bradley Dillin, who put 67 years into Houck Farms.

Century status, the family has endowed funds with the Idaho FFA Foundation for the “Houck Farms Scholarship” investing in tomorrow’s agricultural leaders. The scholarship will be awarded to deserving Bonners Ferry FFA students annually helping to prepare tomorrow’s brightest with the knowledge to succeed.
