It was a big week for the Badgers. The boys and girls varsity soccer teams both made it to the championship games against Coeur d’Alene Charter for a chance at the state title against the Panthers but fell 0-1. The girls were fortunate enough to have the chance to play in a play in game for the chance at state. They played American Falls in the play in game, but were overtaken by the Beavers 1-0. With that, the Badgers girls move to overall 10-9 on the year and 6-4 in conference play.
Maddie Har The girls fought a good fight but had a devastating loss to end their regular season with score ot was a team leader in goals per match (1.3 G/G) and Alexys Mierke leading in assists per match (0.7 Asst/G).
The varsity boy’s soccer team also traveled to the championship game to play the Coeur d’Alene Charter Panthers. With a heartbreaking loss, the boys came home after losing their last game of the season 1-3. This moved the boys to 13-5 on the year.
Nikita Rawson led the team this season in goals per match at 1.9 G/G, Eli Blackmore 1.4 G/G and Dominic Solum 0.3 G/G.
The Badger football team traveled to Orofino to take on the Maniacs on Saturday. The non-league contest between the Badgers and the Maniacs was unfortunate for Orofino to say the least. With the Badgers putting a whooping on the Manicas 41-0 this took the Badgers to 4-4 for the season and an extra pep in their step for next week’s league game against Timberlake.
Sulay Abubakari had three receptions for 57 yards, Brody Rice was five for eight with 98 yards passing, Conrad Hiatt had three carries for 56 yards and Taysean Spottedhorse had eight carries for 74 yards.
The varsity volleyball team had some big wins this week. On Monday they beat Priest River 3-2 and on Thursday, their league rivals, the Timberlake Tigers with a win of 3-1. The Badgers now have a 12-9 record on the year. Helene Rae led the team with a 41.2 kill percentage and Taryn Bateman right behind her at 30.8 kill percent. The BFHS Volleyball team will host the district tournament. The first match will be Monday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. A loss on Monday would continue the district tournament as a best of three format with match number two scheduled for Wednesday, same time: same place.
