This week was a long one for the girls varsity basketball team. With intense practices and a loss to Moscow on Monday, they went back to the court in Kellogg on Friday and what a different story that was! Playing the Silver Valley Tournament, they overtook the Kellogg Wildcats in a non-conference matchup and took the tourney championship.
Taren Bateman led the Badgers on scoring with 20 of the 49 points in the last game of the tournament on Saturday against the Wildcats followed by Sydney Hinthorn with 11 and Makenna Baisden with six. Eva Willis had a total of eight rebounds; three offensively and five defensively.
Next week is pretty quiet, though the boys will finally kick off their basketball season Saturday at home against Sandpoint. The freshman team will start the evening off at 4 p.m. followed by JV at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
The girls don’t play again until a week from Friday, December 6, with a 5:30 p.m. game time for junior varsity and 7 p.m. for varsity.
