Badgers boys start their hoops season strong

Badger Brody Rice drives for the net Saturday as the Badgers beat Sandpoint in their season opener.

State play is on the horizon and a glimmer is in the eyes of the Badgers as they take the court for the first time this season.  The season is looking sweet and the hope and prayer of a two time State Championship is on their lips. The Bonners Ferry Badgers varsity boys basketball had their season opener against the Sandpoint Bulldogs Saturday night.  The Badgers took a strong lead from start and never let the Bulldogs get ahead.  They wrapped up the evening with a blow out, dominating the Bulldogs 80-44.

There was a pre-game ceremony last night recognizing last years’ championship team and hanging the first ever championship banner for Badger basketball.  A handful of the 2023 seniors were in attendance: Chago Jimenez, Wyatt Smith and Eli Blackmore.  Nathan Williams talked about the culture that is Badger basketball and the team of coaches and players that have surrounded him these last 10 years.

It’s a good year to be a Badger!
