James “Jay” Elliott Myers was born January 14, 1945, to Robert and Maurine (Triplett) Myers in Colfax, Washington. Jay passed away peacefully at Schneidmiller Hospice House on November 16, 2024, at the age of 79 years.
Following his parent’s separation in his youth, Jay and his siblings moved to join his father and stepmother, Bette, in Bonners Ferry, where he grew up.
Jay graduated from Bonners Ferry High School — Class of 1963. He continued his education at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene. Jay called Bonners Ferry home, but also spent time in and around the Hayden area. He enjoyed the challenges and accomplishments of a hard day’s work and took on various jobs, including farming, logging and construction.
In his later years, he led a simple life and enjoyed the freedom to create his own adventure each day. Jay rarely passed an opportunity to help someone in need and would frequently stop to assist anyone broken down on the side of the road. He was very proud of his children and family and would often tell their stories to anyone who would listen. Following a stroke and a general decline in health, he remained positive. When asked how he was doing, he would typically respond with, “Never had a bad day!”
Jay attended Real Life Campus in the Silver Valley and was baptized in 2008. He would often join his son and family for bible study at their home. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, sports, car racing and motorcycles. He especially enjoyed being around people and spending time with his family and friends.
Jay will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kelly Clark, sons Chris (and Meredith) Myers, Jim (and Melissa) Myers and Glen (and Brandi) Myers, grandchildren Kayla, Finley, Ruby, Scout and Jude, brothers Bob (and Cheryl), Roger (and Peggy), Roy (and Myrna) and Steve (and Edith) Myers, sisters Vicki (and Lonnie) Downing and Jane (and Alfred) McInturf and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurine, Robert and Bette.
Blessed and eternal be the memory of James Elliott Myers.
