Boundary County Sheriff’s Detention Deputies recently received a generous donation from Shield 616, an organization founded to provide all-day rifle protection for First Responders who sacrificially serve our communities. According to their website they have raised over 20 million dollars, provided protection to over 8,000 First Responders, with over 400 agencies impacted, throughout 34 states.
Detention Deputy Dillain Banning heard about Shield 616 while attending the Detention Academy and upon his return from the academy worked with Detention Deputy Ryan Hoskin and Undersheriff Rich Stephens to reach out to Shield 616. As a result, Shield 616 presented eight Angel Armor ballistic protective vests to the Detention Deputies last week.
Shield 616 not only work to protect those who take on the jobs of placing themselves between our citizens and those who would do them harm, but to keep them safe, replacing the vests, again at no cost to the individual or organization, every five years.
The vests were presented by former Denver Colorado Officer John Adsit and his wife, Michelle. John was critically injured on duty by an intentional attack on officers about a decade ago. Michelle works for Shield 616.
We are grateful for those who have supported Shield 616, and to Shield 616 for providing this level of protection to our detention deputies. To learn more o r to donate, visit shield616.org.
