The annual Elks Hoop Shoot North Idaho Regional competition took place Saturday in Sandpoint and our Boundary County Middle School contestants both brought home wins!
The Elks Hoops Shoot was founded in 1946 but took off in 1972 with a dream that late-past National President Frank Hise put into action. By including the younger kids in the game of basketball and giving them the self-esteem to play with the big kids, Elks Hoop Shoot was born.
Hoop Shoot is an annual free throw competition held nationwide to give kids the opportunity to win at the local, state, regional and national levels.
Competing from Boundary County were Delaney Weymer, who took second place in the 10/11 girls’ division, Madison DesMarais took first place in the 12/13 girls’ division and Brydin Weymer took first place in the 12/13 boys’ division.
