Threat of rare atmospheric phenomena prompts winter storm watch

What snow might look like

The National Weather Service, Spokane, has issued a winter storm watch for possibly heavy snow in North Idaho and northeast Washington, in effect from late Thursday night through Saturday afternoon.

For those who don’t remember, “snow” is atmospheric water vapor frozen into ice crystals and falling in light white flakes or lying on the ground as a white layer. Unless it’s yellow, it poses few harmful effects if eaten and if clean, can be made into a fine ice cream.

From three to eight inches is forecast for the valleys with up to 24-inches possible at higher elevations.

Oh … snow is slick and can cause problems for those walking or driving. Snow does not cause Christmas.
