Avalanche watch in effect

The Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center has issued a back country avalanche watch for Boundary, Bonner and Shoshone Counties, in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Heavy snowfall and high winds may be sufficient to overload very weak snow layers and cause a widespread cycle of avalanches large enough to bury, injure or kill a person. Some avalanches could release naturally and it will become very easy for backcountry travelers to trigger them.

Travel in or below avalanche terrain is not advised for the duration of the watch.
