Thursday night was senior night for two Lady Badgers. With family and friends surrounding them, Syndey Hinthorn and Brooke Petesch played the second to last game on their home court as Bonners Ferry Badgers. It was bittersweet as they graced the court with their families and listened to the memories and hearts of these two leaders.
- Sydney Hinthorn, along with basketball enjoys running, hiking and golf. She plans to attend Boise State University to major in Kinesiology and then further her education to receive her master’s in athletic training. Syndey says that her favorite memory of her basketball career is all the life lessons and lasting relationship she has had over the last 12 years. She is most proud of finally being able to play on Timberlake’s court at the Backwoods’ Brawl her senior year. She says that the advice to future players is, “Do not ever take a day that you can play for granted. Your journey could end when you least expect it, so enjoy it while you can.”
- Brooke Petesch along with basketball enjoys soccer, track, hiking and kayaking. She plans on attending the University of Idaho and traveling then she will see what happens from there. Brooke’s favorite memories of basketball are beating Timberlake at districts last year, playing in the Backwoods’ Brawl games and all of the overnight trips with the team. Being a team captain and lettering all four years is the accomplishment she is the proudest of in her four years of high school. The advice she wants to give to future players is, “Bring your practice jersey and push yourself during conditioning drills – it will pay off.”
