Many of you may be familiar with the stylish writings of Mr. Kenneth Carpenter. Several years ago, he wrote shorts for Mike and Kootenai Valley Times which would become our very own 9B News. He has a gift and would like to share it with the 9B masses.
We will be posting weekly shorts from across the years that Ken has written. Don’t worry, they will be family friendly and give you a good laugh!

But first, a bit from Ken, “In 1969 my teacher in Senior English Class, Mrs. Venard, my favorite teacher ever, told me I should pursue writing. I didn’t, just a little in some classes in my two years at North Idaho College. in 1976, I went back to north Idaho College after three years in the arm and some wild times in Moyie Springs.
I wrote for the newspaper and a creative writing class in 1976. I then, left school and didn’t do any real writing again until 1994 when a friend who worked at a Bonners Ferry paper got me started again. I basically wrote for every different paper that Bonners Ferry had from then on, from the Bonners Ferry Herald to Kootenai Valley Times, always warped humor and occasionally some sports.
My favorite times were writing for Mike Weland’s newspaper and later for his online news. In 2016, I finally lost my imagination and only wrote things occasionally for fun. I still write something occasionally but haven’t dedicated myself to it.
Katie has kindly said she would like to post some of my 20 years’ worth of stories, which many would say are on the deranged side. I am hoping this will jumpstart me into find some of my old, creative side. If not, the old ones might just be ok for a while.”
Keep a lookout each Friday for a funny, yet endearing short on 9B.News.
We are pleased to re-introduce to the platform, Out of Kilter, by Ken Carpenter.
I look forward to this!
