Ash Street man comes out of the closet

David Wagner, gray sweat pants, being escorted from his Ash Street home Monday morning.

When their knocks and announcements went unanswered, Boundary County Sheriff’s deputies forced entry into a home at 7152 Ash Street about 8:02 a.m. Monday to execute a search warrant for a semi-automatic pistol instead turned up drugs and paraphernalia sufficient for one felony and three misdemeanor drug charges and a suspect hiding in a closet under blankets and assorted detritus.

David Guy Wagner, 39, is being held in jail on $15,000 bond. If convicted, he faces up to life in
prison and/or a $25,000 fine.

The residence raided is next door to the Pearl Theater, a non profit organization dedicated to promoting the performing arts in Boundary County, that has been impacted by the alleged drug house next door. Board and staff, having lodged complaints and providing photographic evidence for about a year of alleged overt drug dealing, are grateful.

“Well, finally the cops did something,” one wrote. “Search warrant, arrested. Hoping the judge does not let him out.”

Wagner has made application for a public defender. Preliminary hearing is set before Judge Justin Julian at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 14.
