Dr. Becker, Mikkel humbly ask help

Both Dr. Marty Becker and his daughter, Mikkel, are far better at giving help rather than asking, but sometimes you have to humble yourself and ask for help … especially when it’s for a family member in need. Mikkel’s husband, Ryan, has a serious and potentially fatal skin infection that is affecting multiple organs. To date, the nation’s best physicians are baffled.

Ryan started his medical journey at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Spokane, before moving to the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

After being seen by teams of professionals at Mayo over a two-week period, they left without a diagnosis or treatment plan. In a Hail Mary, they went to the John’s Hopkins/National Institute of Health’s Rare Disease Unit, where he remains hospitalized.

Again, wave-after-wave of doctors performing multiple diagnostics have not been able to come up with a definitive diagnosis or effective treatment plan.

Extremely painful gangrenous lesions cover nearly half his body and are extremely painful. Ryan feels malaise, weakness and says, “I feel like I’m dying from the outside in … and the inside out.”

Ryan’s pain levels are literally off the chart … similar to what serious burn patients experience.

Ryan has health insurance, but they are seeking cause not cover this illness as medical costs skyrocket. Expenses for travel, lodging, meals, a house sitter/dog sitter, etc. are piling up and neither Ryan nor Mikkel are expected to be able to return to work in the foreseeable future.

If you’re able to donate, the Becker family would deeply appreciate it. If you can’t give money, they ask that you please give prayers or healing thoughts to Ryan and the whole family.
