Many Hands Make Light Work – a Thank You from the Turners

Turner fundraiser
Community helping community

Community helping community. Eli Pine knows what it’s like to have community surround him when he needed it the most. After a medical event himself, he wanted to do something more to help someone else.

Eli decided that it was time to give back and arranged a taco bar and silent auction fundraiser to help the Turners in their time of need.

Lucas and Charli Turner have been a staple in this community for the last several years. They have been on the side of giving many times in this community; from outreaches to community events, giving meals and silent donations but now, it’s time for them to be on the receiving end.

In January the Turner family won the vacation of a lifetime…or so they thought.

The Turner family in Hawaii the first time Chari was released from the hospital.

It was another day on the Big Island and the Turners were on an excursion to Shark’s Cove when Charli slipped on the lava reef, she was exploring and fell 8 feet down; her flesh pealed from her shin bone and pieces of her insides floated beside her in the ocean waves. She was scooped up and rushed to an ambulance where she received emergent medical attention at not one, but two Hawaii hospitals. After two surgeries, two ambulances rides and several days in the hospital, the medical bills have begun to pile up.

Eli Pine, ready to serve!

The community rallied last night. Donations were generous and bids were princely. The Turners would like to personally thank each and every person who showed up, donated, bid, helped in the kitchen, cleaned up and so much more behind the scenes.

In the midst of tears, Charli says, “I was an emotional trail wreck, and it was so humbling to be on that side of generosity.  Thank you to the community, Eli, the firefighters and friends and family for showing up and giving so freely.”

Thanks are in order to all of those that helped and donated to make last night’s event happen:
