I am convinced there is no program more transformative available to young women than Distinguished Young Women, and that no community puts more into it or is more appreciative than Bonners Ferry.
There is no greater testament existing than to juxtapose those girls now setting out on the path with those who’ve traversed it, from those just one grade ahead now helping this year’s participants to the Distinguished (ever) Young Women who could be their great-grandmothers, each reflecting the rite of discovery and the rite of passage that is Distinguished Young Women. It never dims.
The Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women program receives its funds and support entirely through the donations of local community members and businesses. Without this support the program would not exist.
Katie Banning, owner and publisher of 9B, didn’t blink when I sheepishly confessed to starting the 9B.News Bonners Ferry DYW “Run for the Roses” Fundraiser to make it easier to give. All proceeds will go to the Bonners Ferry Distinguished Young Women Program, with 9B.News contributing the GoFundMe service fees so that the program receives the full amount donated.
Those who’d prefer can mail donations to Bonners Ferry DYW, PO Box 1512, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.
The theme this year is “Run for the Roses” and the program is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Bonners Ferry High School’s Becker Auditorium
Tickets are $12, and go on sale Tuesday, April 15, at Mountain Mike’s Health Food Store, 6486 Main Street, Bonners Ferry. All seats are reserved, they sell out fast and may not be available at the door … so get your tickets early!
And please give to 9B.News Bonners Ferry DYW “Run for the Roses” Fundraiser, and help make a truly exceptional program even better.
