1957 – 2025
After 67 years of a full-spirited, adventure-filled life, Robert Lynn Chaney — lovingly known as “Crazy Bob” — was called home on April 7, 2025.
He leaves behind his beloved mother, Bunny Chaney, and his siblings David, Jack, Bill, Eric, Toby and Sheila, along with a world of people who loved him deeply. Though he had no children of his own, Bob embraced many as if they were his own, earning the cherished title of “Uncle Bob” to more people than one could count.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gene.
Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War — a chapter of his life that shaped his strength, resilience and unwavering sense of purpose. That same spirit carried him across the country, as he traveled by car, bus, train or even on foot. A true wanderer, Bob was always searching for new people to meet, new stories to share and new memories to make.
If you were lucky enough to cross paths with Bob, you know he left a mark. He had the rare ability to truly listen — sometimes with words, sometimes in silence — and whatever you shared with him stayed between the two of you. He gave generously, often going without so that someone else didn’t have to. And oh, the stories — Bob could talk for hours, leaving you laughing, smiling and walking away a little lighter.
Though it may feel like he was taken too soon, we believe we are called home when our journey here is complete. Bob’s journey was full — filled with love, laughter, trials and triumphs. He now joins his true love, Sherri, and the one he lovingly called his son, Michael. Together again, they’ll explore a new kingdom far beyond our own.
So, we won’t say goodbye. Instead, we say: “Crazy Bob, go be with your Sherri. Hold Michael close. Keep exploring. And when our time comes, we’ll find you by the fire, ready to tell us your next great story.”
Be at peace — brother, son, uncle, and dear friend.
You are deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
Had many conversations with Bob. Rest in peace, Bob.
