The Bonners Ferry Fire Department would like to thank all of the people involved in the truly successful exercises and burning of the house behind the Mountain Springs Church on Denver.
Pro-X Home center provided all of the sheetrock we needed to reinforce the burn rooms free of charge. Koverage Building Supply provided all the pallets for cribbing in the burn rooms for free. Don Grove donated all of the straw we used in the burn rooms. Angel One and the Boundary County Chaplain Corps core provided lunch, drinks, and snacks throughout the day free of charge. KG&T provided much needed facilities.
All seven local fire departments came together on Saturday April 26th for training. During the day, thirty exercises involving live fire were done within the house. The burn exercises provided the opportunity for all the volunteer departments to work together. It also allowed us to practice skills in a live fire environment that we need to keep sharp to protect our community.
All of this volunteering, training, and donating would not have been possible if Mountain Springs Church had not donated their building for the exercises and allowed us the time required for coordinating the exercises, preparing the building for the exercises, and waiting for the testing so we could burn the building down.
We would also like to thank the neighbors. We firefighters can be noisy and smoky but thank you for your tolerance. We just want to be ready as best we can if you call for help.
If you would like to learn more about volunteering, please contact your local fire department. The Bonners Ferry Fire Department has volunteer positions open now.
Thank You All!
