That’s a wrap. Bonners Ferry High School Golf has come to an end for the 2025 season. Badger state goer, Eli Blackmore earned a 6th place individual medal, scoring 77 on day one and 84 on day two of the state competition for a total of 161.

“Eli shot a great 77 on the first day tied for second.” Coach Travis Blackmore says, “He shot a really good front nine on the second day with a few tough holes on the back nine for an 84, earning him a sixth-place finish for the tournament.”

The Badger girls team dropped their combined score on the second day from 480 to 449 and ended the tournament, also in 6th place just nine strokes shy of Teton.

“The girls got off to a slow start on the first day but settled in the second day and played solid.” Travis continued.

Nolie Hiatt led the girl’s tournament total with 215 followed by Sydney Hinthorn with 217, Callie Bateman with 232, Eleanor Sheets with 265 and Sadie Newhouse with 290.

“I have a love-hate relationship with this sport, but over the past two years, it has become one of my favorite pastimes.” Senior, Sydney Hinthorn says. “I owe a tremendous thanks to Travis Blackmore for helping me figure out how to consistently hit the ball and helping me mentally prepare before each tournament. I will miss these girls next year. The girls’ team bonded over this quote that I told them right before we teed off on the first hole at state. ‘Do your best. Even if your best isn’t good, you just have to do your best.'”

Although Makeen Loretta didn’t quite make the cut for the boys’ team, he graciously attended as the team manager and the positive presence they all needed.

“State golf was great. The Clear Lake Golf course was a fun and challenging course.” Travis continued, “It was such a good experience for our young golfers to get to see how a state tournament is run and what the competition is like throughout the state.”

“We are so proud of these athletes!” Maureen Blackmore, wife of Coach Travis Blackmore said, “They represented Bonners Ferry well. Badger pride all the way!”
