Memorial Day: a day of remembrance, a day to honor the fallen who fought and died defending the very freedom we, as Americans, take for granted. It is a day to visit gravesides, adorn them with flowers and remember the sacrifice that so many made.
The people of the city of Bonners Ferry take great pride in their country, are proud of those who served and make much effort to honor the fallen and show it publicly.
Today was the Memorial Day parade. It ran the typical parade route. It included firetrucks, old cars, dog walkers, sports teams, people carrying flags and semi-trucks and floats decked out in balloons and streamers. There were policemen directing traffic and paradegoers dressed to the nines in their red, white and blue. Main street was packed with locals and visitors alike; all coming together in unity for one purpose; to remember.
This Memorial Day, remember the fallen and remember the freedom that we boast because of their sacrifice.
