9B Tacos – Shattered dreams can still come true

Jose and Lovey Ceseña had a dream. A dream that would span nearly a decade; a decade of dates nights to taco stands in downtown Los Angeles and deciding that the memories made would someday become their reality.

With two small, rambunctious boys, and one on the way, they decided it was time to be in business for themselves to enjoy the flexibility of work and doing life together.

But that dream all took a dramatic turn with Lovey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019. In 2020, the Ceseña family packed up and moved their young family to Bonners Ferry in efforts to be closer to her family while going through cancer treatment.

Their youngest son was born in 2020 and in 2021, Jose’s partner in crime and love of his life, passed away leaving him with shattered dreams and three small kids to raise on his own.

Those shattered dreams though, kept nagging him…”What would Lovey have me do?” Jose thought. So, he pulled himself up by his bootstraps and began a journey that should have been theirs. Though she was not there in person, she was there in spirit and in heart and that drove Jose to put the pieces back together and open 9B Tacos.
