Striping crews in North Idaho have been hard at work through June and have more work ahead on some of the busiest stretches of highway as we cruise into July!
Drivers should plan for slow-moving vehicles, minor delays, and limited opportunities to pass during daytime hours.
Where & When:
- June 23-26: US-95 Sandpoint Byway and SH-200 towards Montana
- July 7–14: US-95 from Lancaster to the Long Bridge
- July 15–22: US-95 from Samuels Road to the Canadian border
- July 23–31: US-2 from Bonners Ferry to Montana and SH-1 from Copeland Junction to the Canadian border
All work is weather-dependent, especially when it comes to rain. Striping trucks operate at under 15 mph to apply paint precisely and ensure the glass beads that make lines reflective can properly adhere. They do pull over when possible to let traffic by, but in these rural areas, safe pull-off points are few and far between.
Plan ahead and check current impacts using Idaho’s 511 system.
Please be patient and follow posted signs while crews work to keep road markings visible and safe for all!
