Aging with Grace

Aging with Grace. What does that mean? It could mean growing old gracefully or getting older, but not as old as some. But what does it mean to Joy Watts, the founder and heart behind Aging with Grace?

Let’s break it down. Joy has done considerable research on the word ‘Grace’, and the meaning is so much more than Webster could ever define.

Grace as Webster defines it is, unmerited divine assistance given to humans for their regeneration or sanctification; a virtue coming from God; a state of sanctification enjoyed through divine assistance.’  ‘That sounds nice, right?

But let’s go a little deeper. “Grace is an action.” Joys says, “Grace calls you to do better, and grace doesn’t give you permission to stay where you are. Grace is seeing the best in your circumstances. Grace is a gift from God.”
After giving birth to her third child, and feeling uncomfortable in her own skin, she wanted weight loss, and she wanted it now!
Like so many women, she felt the need for change. Not just a diet, but a whole lifestyle change. After 14 years of battling with her weight, battling with God and battling with herself, Joy has finally come to a place where she can feel free to help those that were like her; lost, overweight, anxious, depressed and hopeless.

Four years ago, Joy started training women in her small home facility. It was clear from the start that Jesus had the wheel. Joy feels that not only clients, but herself too are blessed to be on this journey. It was pure direction from God that led Joy to develop an app to provide workouts to people at their fingertips. AWG Fitness: A faith driven strength training app is now available on IOS and Google Play.

“I want to see people grow as humans and so much of us need change.” Joy goes on, “Change involves truth, and you can’t change if you’re not truthful with yourself. Women often refuse to give themselves grace and this is where I can help.”

“A diet is a vacation; we don’t live there.” Joy says, “I want this to honor God in my work, and I feel that this is where He has me in this season of life. My goal is to help you build skeletal muscle, change your lifestyle and your mindset for your whole health. I want women to believe in themselves again.”

People often have asked Joy, ‘Why didn’t you create an app sooner? Why didn’t you start your gym and program years ago?’ Well, according to Joy, “It just wasn’t God’s time, but when it was, it was smooth like butter! The process just moved, and I didn’t have to force it.
“God revealed the weak spots, that I didn’t need to do this alone.” She goes on. “I don’t want women to struggle alone.”
So, what is Aging with Grace, really? It is a strength training system to leverage your life and mindset, grow mental resilience, and add value to women’s lives. It is a movement, “My heart is to help the foundational pieces of health, and the importance of just that. The foundational piece is Christ, and we can build from that.” Joy goes on, “Weight loss is not the only goal or factor here. The sustained weight loss, understanding of overall strength and health, and a foundation built on truth is the mission.”
