City of Bonners Ferry Police Department Press Release

The Bonners Ferry local option tax for a 1% sales tax increase was voted on and approved by voters on May 16, 2023, and it has shown to have been put to good use. The Bonners Ferry Police Department will soon be upgrading their vehicle fleet to help more efficiently protect and serve the community of Bonners Ferry.

PRESS RELEASE – The City of Bonners Ferry Police Department is pleased to announce that, with the support of the 1% sales tax, we are upgrading our police vehicle fleet.

Historically, we have relied on purchasing used vehicles, which often required significant maintenance and repair costs. The new sales tax funding has enabled us to secure a lease-to-own agreement to replace our fleet over the next five years. The new vehicles have arrived and will be deployed over the coming weeks as we transfer existing equipment.

Additionally, we will be updating our outdated handheld and in-car radio systems during the next fiscal year. These improvements would not have been possible without the community’s continued support. We extend our sincere gratitude to the citizens of Bonners Ferry and Boundary County residents for their investment in enhancing our law-enforcement capabilities.
