The Boundary Amateur Radio Club (BARC) applied for and received a grant of $9,394 from the Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC) organization. The funding will be used to purchase and install new VHF “ham” radios and power supplies at each of the seven main fire stations in Boundary County. In addition, the grant will fund improvements to the existing VHF “ham” radio system at Boundary Community Hospital and the BARC radio repeater system on Black Mountain. The grant funds will also boost BARC’s ability to assist with communications in emergencies and community events.
BARC wishes to thank Boundary County Emergency Management, all the county’s Fire Chiefs, and Boundary Community Hospital for their support and assistance with this important project. BARC also wishes to publicly thank the ARDC for their consideration of the project and the generous grant award that will fund it.
