Poston will sustain sound and resourceful city

Brion Poston

I am a lifelong resident of Boundary County and the City of Bonners Ferry. I graduated from Bonners Ferry High School and attended the University of Idaho for three years. I have been married to my wife, Glenda, for the past 46 years. We have a daughter, Jessica, and three granddaughters.

Almost six years ago, I retired as shop manager after 32 years at Boundary Tractor. In each of those years, I coached young Badgers in basketball and answered calls around the clock to help keep equipment running on Boundary fields.

When I retired, I realized I had the ability to give back to my community in a new and different way and ran for city council. I became involved to continue the city council’s work toward our common goal of sustaining a sound and resourceful city.

We have many assets within the city that I will guard and protect for the future.

One is the city owned dam at Moyie Springs. A year ago, it underwent a renovation at a cost of over $4-million dollars. It is currently undergoing a relicensing process which will allow the city to keep it operating for another 10 years. I want to ensure these successful inspections continue.

Our drinking water and the quality of our water is a topic. We have always had exceptional water in the City of Bonners Ferry. It is important to me that we continue to work to maintain the quality of the city’s drinking water.

The city’s sewer system is extremely important to maintain, especially with the current growth our community has seen.

I want to ensure that the light, water and sewer systems capacity remains sufficient for our current and future needs.

My goal, when re-elected to represent you on the Bonners Ferry City Council, is to preserve the quality of our infrastructure, to ensure our community runs efficiently and safely, that our essential departments; police, fire, street, water and sewer, remain supported to their current or higher standards of excellence.

Another area that is of concern to me is our city pool and the children of our area that are taught to swim there each year. Swimming lessons save lives.

I would never describe myself as a politician and my motivation for running for City Council is not politically driven.

I am common-sense, open minded, easy to get along with, and open to any and all conversations.

I have the time to invest, the knowledge to make informed, common-sense decisions, and I would like to continue to represent my friends and neighbors as your representative on the Bonners Ferry City Council. Please vote November 4.
