At 5 p.m. Friday, October 24, the deadline to both pre-register to vote and to request an absentee ballot at VoteIdaho.gov ahead of the November 4 local elections ends. After Friday’s deadline, eligible voters can still register in-person at early voting or on election day with an accepted form of photo ID and proof of residence.
Early voting is underway in many counties across Idaho, including Boundary County, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Friday, October 31, when you should be out trick-or-treating with your kids, anyway.
“As the election approaches, I encourage every Idahoan to make a plan and be ready to vote in the local elections on Tuesday, November 4th,” said Secretary Phil McGrane. “Pre-registering at VoteIdaho.gov is quick and straightforward, and it’s the best way to ensure you’re prepared for Election Day. For those voting absentee, this Friday is especially important, as it’s also the deadline to request your ballot. VoteIdaho.gov is your trusted resource to get the information you need and to make your voice heard in your community.”
Voters can visit VoteIdaho.gov to check and update their registration, view a sample ballot, request an absentee ballot, find early voting information for their county, and more. Any eligible resident of a county may vote at any early voting location in their county. Those not yet registered can register and vote in person at early voting or on Election Day by bringing an accepted form of photo ID and proof of residence. For most voters, a current Idaho driver’s license satisfies both requirements.
Not every Idahoan will have something on their ballot this November. Local taxing districts operate on different schedules, and their boundaries don’t always follow neighborhood lines. You might have an election, even if your next-door neighbor does not. Before heading to the polls, take a moment to check your sample ballot at VoteIdaho.gov.
