The Boundary Tractor Pumpkin Drop is back in all its glory at 4 p.m. today at 6632 Main Street, Bonners Ferry, and this year, 9B.News is pitching in to help make it even more exciting!
The idea came to owner Cal Russell during the stock market crash of 2008, what could he do that would take something that was a detriment to society and do something to make it just a little more bearable?
And it hit him … how about we make a representation of what it is that’s besetting us, display it artistically, and then bring in a Hi-Lift and hoist a ton or so pumpkin 60-feet in the air and let it drop, smashing what it is that’s bugging us in a gory mist of pumpkin guts and splattered rind!
No one but Cal and his crew know the secret of who or what get crushed this afternoon, you have to come down and see for yourself.
The 9B News crew will be on scene at 3:30 p.m., not only to chronicle the Great 2025 Boundary Tractor Pumpkin Drop, but to hand out Halloween goody bags with full-size candy bars and toys to the first 17 costumed kids who stop and ask for one.
What makes it even better, six of those bags have money in them, including one with a $50-bill!
