
Many citizens of Boundary County count on the multitude of services that Kootenai Health offers. If you have Regence BlueShield of Idaho, your care may be affected.
According to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, “If you have Regence BlueShield of Idaho health insurance, we want to inform you that Regence’s contract with Kootenai Health will be terminated effective January 1, 2026. On that date, Kootenai Health and Kootenai Clinic will become out-of-network providers for Regence members. This means it may now cost Regence members more for our services.
Many key services will be affected, including but not limited to:
- Any care received at Kootenai Health, including all inpatient and outpatient surgeries and services except for emergency care
- Outpatient therapy with Kootenai Health Rehabilitation Services
- Endoscopy procedures with Kootenai Clinic Gastroenterology and Endoscopy
- Infusion services such as chemotherapy
- Imaging studies, including those provided at Kootenai Heart Clinics and Kootenai Outpatient Imaging

I do not understand why we have insurance in the first place. It’s nothing but a big scam. It’s ridiculous to pay for insurance every month and only can be seen at certain places and certain doctors.
