North Bench Fire answered a fire call at about 1:14 a.m. on November 10 after the family was awakened by the frantic barking of their guard dog, Denali. A shop building was fully involved when fire trucks rolled onto the scene, but amazingly, it was the only structure destroyed.
With mutual aid assistance from Paradise Valley, South Boundary and Curley Creek Fire Departments, fire personnel were able to limit damage to a barn just behind the shop to some melted house wrap, greatly limiting the loss Mike and Barb Casey sustained, which was still considerable. Fortunately, no one, family or firefighters or first responders, were injured.
They lost the shop and several vehicles, none insured, two freezers full of meat, animal feed and more, an estimated $50,000 in total. If you are able to offer any assistance in clean up or to donate goods or services send 9B.News an email at katie@9b.news or on Facebook Messenger.
