Roads were slickery this morning and the National Weather Service, Spokane, says they’re likely to be even more slickeryer from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday as a storm system brings a wintery mix of ice, snow, sleet, rain and slop with which to try driver’s souls.
The winter weather advisory calls for up to six-inches of snow above 3,500 feet elevation with freezing rain in the valleys putting a glaze ice from a tenth to a quarter of an inch thick.
Motorists in North Idaho and northeast Washington are advised to stock up with extra tonight on your Friday food, beer and booze run, and if your weekend plans include anything to do with plumbing, buy up everything on the plumbing aisle to possibly save the half-dozen trips typically necessary to replace a faucet washer.
You can return what you don’t use once the roads clear.
If you do have to drive plan the extra time it will take to clear the glass and warm your rig and still give yourself time to slow down, drive with extra caution and still reach your destination safely and when you’re supposed to be there.
