In a defining moment for Lexington Sporting Club, Lexington, Kentucky, and the local soccer community, the club proudly announced Terry Boss, who has deep roots in Boundary County, as the head coach of its professional USL Championship men’s soccer team.
Terry is the son of Bob and Teresa (Houck) Boss. Teresa is the daughter of the late Ray and Francis Houck, scions of the Idaho Century Legacy Houck Family Farms started in 1924 by S.L. Houck near Porthill. Bob was a School District 101 teacher.
Lexington Sporting Club features a youth club that gives kids and coaches the opportunity to learn, compete, and develop, as well as a professional team committed to playing great soccer for our fans as well as provide mentoring and a runway for academy players.

Boss arrives in Lexington after two impactful seasons as an assistant coach with Austin FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). Known for his ability to inspire teams and players, Boss has a decorated career that includes being twice named Pac-12 Coach of the Year during his tenure at Oregon State University. In 2021, he guided Oregon State to a historic No. 1 national ranking and the top seed in the NCAA Tournament, proving his ability to build programs that exceed expectations. Additionally, Boss has also served as an assistant/ goalkeeper coach for the U.S. Men’s National Team in 2019.
Beyond his accolades, Boss’s journey reflects perseverance and passion. As a former professional goalkeeper, he competed in MLS with Seattle Sounders FC and New York Red Bulls, and he represented Puerto Rico’s national team. When injuries cut his playing career short, he transitioned to coaching, where his leadership has positively impacted programs at the collegiate, national, and professional levels.

Lexington Sporting Club is a U.S. Soccer professional soccer club competing in the USL Championship (U.S. Soccer Second Division men’s professional soccer), and in USL Super League (U.S. Soccer First Division women’s professional soccer).
