The dogs in our community can no longer look forward to tasty bones from South Hill Locker brought home for them to chew. A few “care for nobodies” have abused the owners not locking the bone room so people can pick through the trash cans for meaty bones and chunks of suet for woodpeckers and other winter birds. For decades the bone room has been unlocked, with the owners only asking bone pickers to close the door of the refrigerated room, respect personal and business property stored there and not leave a mess.
A few weeks ago, the owner found the doors of the refrigerated room wide open. After it happened repeatedly, he locked the doors when the locker was not open. A couple of weeks later he left the room unlocked so people could conveniently get bones and suet. His trust was violated and every honest hunter insulted by the theft of an employee’s buck head with trophy antlers that was stored there. The room has been locked, even when the locker is open, after a thief stole cleaning supplies while the staff was working.
The owner regrets that he has to lock up his bone room because of “thieving care for nobodies.”
He has been glad to keep the room open so people could get bones for their dogs and suet for winter birds. Now it will all go to the landfill and he is sorry so many innocent dogs and birds have to go without because of a few spoilers.
It is the theft of the buck’s head and trophy antlers that makes him mad and will keep the bone room door locked. If the arrogant thief has not sold it, it will be displayed and bragged about so its whereabouts will become known.
On behalf of the dogs and winter birds, I pray to God Almighty that an honest person will return the buck’s head with its trophy antlers … just leave it by the bone room door. I hope this rash of insulting abuses and thefts is over.
For decades, the people of this animal-loving community have thanked the owners of South Hill Lockers for keeping their bone room open. We appreciate the trust given us as together we feed the dogs and winter birds living in Boundary County.
