Badger baseball kicks off the season 2-1

The Bonners Ferry Badgers varsity baseball team traveled to Lewiston last weekend for a triple-header; one against Grangeville and two against Saint Maries. The Badgers fell to the 2-4 Grangeville Bulldogs 3-8 on Friday but came out on top on Saturday with two wins against

the 1 -1 Saint Maries Lumberjacks, 12-10 and 13-2 bringing the Badger season record to 2-1.

According to Max Preps, “Bonners Ferry wallops Saint Maries!” The Badgers led strong from the start for both Saturday games. With six runs to the Lumberjack’s zero in one and four runs to the Lumberjack’s zero in the other, the Badgers showed those Lumberjacks what baseball in Bonners Ferry is all about.

Thomas Bateman leads the team in batting average with .636 and hits with 7, Keenan Maas leads the team in runs with 7, Stryder Liermann with 5 RBI, Thomas Bateman and Gavin Rider tied with 0.00 ERA and Maddox Ostberg leads on-base percentage with .750.

The Badgers first home game is this coming Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against non-conference Eureka Lions.
