Robert “Squeak” Karlac

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Squeak Karlac, beloved husband and father. After a long battle with Alzheimer’s he passed peacefully on October 14, 2025, with his wife Kendra, and their children Autumn and Rama, by his side. He is proceeded in death by his son Echo, his parents Walter and Jean, and his sister Pookie.

Squeak moved to Bonners Ferry with Kendra in the mid 70s and quickly became a vibrant member of the community. He built a beautiful home in Paradise Valley to raise his family, and began his career as a builder.

Squeak had many passions; spending time with his family, traveling the world, hiking (always barefoot), baseball, swimming and scuba diving. It didn’t matter where in the world he traveled; he was always barefoot!

Squeak touched many lives with his example of following his heart and living his dreams. He was a kindhearted soul, who embraced life and all that it had to offer. Known for his playful spirit, Squeak loved to laugh, play air guitar, listen to music and cavort with friends. He amassed numerous names from his world travels: Sir Qweekie, Sprocket, Squash, to name a few. He was also a founding member of the loosely organized “Fun Coalition.” As a dedicated peacekeeper he felt strongly that war was never the answer. He recognized individuals as humans, and did not judge others by their race, color, gender or creed.

Salude dear friend, may your new adventure bring you joy and peace as you continue your journey … BAREFOOT!

Currently there are no plans for a memorial.

In lieu of flowers please consider offering the gift of respite time to caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients. They are deeply in need of a few hours of downtime and it’s a wonderful way you can offer them help on this very difficult journey. Be a friend.
