The National Weather Service, Spokane, has issued a flood watch for an area including the Idaho Panhandle in effect from Monday evening through Thursday. Moderate to heavy rain and melting snow combined with an atmospheric weather event will lead to a rise in local rivers, creeks and streams. River flow may increase quickly and reach critical levels.
A moderately strong atmospheric river event beginning late Monday night and continuing into early Thursday will bring milder temperatures with rising snow levels. The combination of melting snow at low to mid elevations with moderate to heavy rain may lead to excessive runoff.
Those in low-lying areas with poor drainage may see flooding impacts and should take steps to minimize potential damage.
If flooding appears likely, Boundary County will make sandbags available to county homeowners at Road & Bridge, 73 Sunrise Road, and sand will be made available at the county landfill. To learn more, call road and bridge at (208) 267-3838.
